About The Event
Join ForestHer NC in our Mountains region gathering! This workshop will be held at the Warren Wilson College Forest in Buncombe County and welcomes all ForestHers. The goals of this gathering are to build on ForestHer NC’s 2022 foundational workshop series, learn about conserving healthy forests, and create a sense of community among participants. We will have hands-on learning opportunities including building bird boxes and watching a lumber milling demonstration.
Agenda:
- 1:00 - Registration, welcome, and introductions
- 1:15 - Rotating Stations: Conservation Chat, Milling Demonstration, and Bird Box Building
- 4:15 - Group discussion, questions, and reflection
Accessibility: We will be walking 0.5 mile on a gravel road from the Forestry Cabin to the Sawmill. Please let us know if you would like assistance getting this distance. During the Conservation Chat, will will be in a building that has stairs with a handrail up to the porch area. During the Box Building session, we will be working with hand tools such as hammers.
